DaisyDisk vs CleanMyMac, and every other Mac disk app.
One table for every Mac storage app we've compared, then a short, fair answer for the matchups people search for most.
The short version
DaisyDisk is the best picture of your disk, for $9.99 once. CleanMyMac is a paid suite, from $39.99 a year or $89.99 once, where disk cleanup is one part of many. GrandPerspective is the free treemap. OmniDiskSweeper is a free size list that hasn't changed since 2018. Disk Forecast is free, and it's built around the question the others don't lead with: when will your disk be full?
Every app, side by side
Prices, versions, and platforms come from each vendor's own site, store listing, or GitHub, and in a few cases from the app itself, as of October 2026. Each app's own page says where every fact comes from.

DaisyDisk vs CleanMyMac
These two get compared because both help when a Mac is full, but they're different kinds of app. DaisyDisk is an analyzer. It scans a disk, draws it as rings you click through, and lets you drag what you don't want to a collector to delete. It costs $9.99 once, and it's sold on the Mac App Store and directly. The App Store build can't see hidden and system files; the direct one can.
CleanMyMac is MacPaw's suite. Disk cleanup is one part, alongside malware scans, an uninstaller and app updater, and a finder for duplicates and large files. On the Mac App Store it's $39.99 a year, $65.99 for Plus, or $89.99 once for CleanMyMac X.
Pick DaisyDisk if you want to see where the space went and decide for yourself, and pay once. Pick CleanMyMac if you'll use most of the suite. If you only need the disk space back, both are optional: Is CleanMyMac safe? lists the free routes.
DaisyDisk vs GrandPerspective
Both draw your disk as a picture, and both are maintained: DaisyDisk shipped 4.34.2 in July 2026, and GrandPerspective shipped 3.8.1 in September 2026. DaisyDisk uses rings you click through, and it's the more pleasant of the two to explore. GrandPerspective uses a treemap, every file a rectangle sized by its space, and is free from its website, or $2.99 on the Mac App Store. Its source is open under the GPL.
Pick DaisyDisk if you'll explore your disk often and want it to feel good. Pick GrandPerspective if you want the same answer for free.
OmniDiskSweeper vs DaisyDisk
OmniDiskSweeper is a free list of folders sorted by size, from The Omni Group. It's the plainest tool here, and that's its appeal. But version 1.11 dates from 2018 and contains Intel code only, so on Apple silicon it runs through Rosetta 2. DaisyDisk is native on Apple silicon, updated in 2026, and costs $9.99.
Pick DaisyDisk on a current Mac. If you want OmniDiskSweeper's plain list for free and native, Disk Forecast's top-folders list and Finder's Calculate all sizes are the closest.
Where Disk Forecast fits
Every other app in the table answers “what's using my space?” Disk Forecast starts one step earlier. It sits in the menu bar, checks free space every hour, and after 3 days says when your disk will be full. When it's time to reclaim space, it explains every item, sends what you clear to the Trash, and breaks System Data into its parts with Apple's own fixes. It's free, with the source on GitHub. It doesn't draw a map, so it pairs well with DaisyDisk or GrandPerspective.
The one that tells you when.
Disk Forecast learns how fast your disk fills and shows the countdown in your menu bar, so the next full disk isn't a surprise. It's free.
